February Farm Walk & Talk

Loading schedule...

Curious about what happens on a regenerative farm during winter dormancy? Quite a lot, it turns out.

Join us from 2-4pm on Sunday, February 11 for a 2-hour, adult-oriented farm experience OR Sunday, February 18 for a more "kid friendly" version that takes guests on a guided adventure that includes a forest and farmyard walk (be prepared for mud and ice) with various stops along the way:

  • We'll take a walk up to our old conifer plantation where, alongside a group of hardy friends (humans and animals), we've been remediating and restoring a declining woodland. Learn about the experiments we're doing to understand how best to steward this piece of land.
  • We'll go to the barn to interact with the pigs, chickens, sheep, llamas, cows and horse. We'll spend time and talk a bit about their roles in the health of the farm system.
  • We'll gather in our cozy (now heated!) Yurt for cider and conversation about Regenerative Agriculture and the things that we're thinking about in the off-season
  • There will be lots of time for questions and curiosity. And, if you like, to share what the dormant season means in your own life.
  • Afterwards, the farm store will be open if you want to take Heartwood treats home with you.

We don't offer many farm experiences between Christmas and maple syrup season, so this is a good opportunity for anyone who needs a dose of Heartwood magic in between.

No dogs please (farm animals find even the cutest ones stressful!)

Come prepared for some walking on our woodland trails and dressed for the cold, mud and ice!
